Good News for NAGE Members in Governor's 2013 Spending Bill

January 25, 2011

Governor Patrick's fiscal year 2013 spending bill points to positive news ahead for NAGE members, with the bill funding negotiated pay raises and sidestepping changes to health insurance premium splits.

NAGE members will receive a negotiated 3% raise effective June 30, 2012, and an additional 1.5% raise effective July 1, 2012, for a total of 4.5%.

The other good news in the budget bill is the absence of proposals to change the employer-employee health insurance premium split, a battle NAGE has had to fight so many times in past years.

"We're obviously pleased that the governor's bill funds our contracts and that the health insurance premium split will remain unchanged," said National President David Holway. "After many years of attacks on public employees through the budget process, it's nice to see the administration recognizing all the sacrifices our members have been making for the good of the Commonwealth."

The bill must now make its way through the House and the Senate before heading to the governor's desk for signing. NAGE will continue to update members throughout this legislative process.
