Greetings:
DMH
Employees from around the state rallied at the State House on March 22nd, sending a powerful message to our representatives on Beacon Hill that we should stop and study the impact of closing Taunton State Hospital.
NAGE Unit One also negotiated an early retirement cash incentive/voluntary lay-off for those who want to make a change.
DWD/DCS
The rumor that our career center employees will fall under the jurisdiction of their private partners for IT proposes has been killed. According to DWD labor relations, the agency does not expect employees to execute acknowledgements of non-state policies, or lose access to state email.
MASS DOT/RMV
Staffing is on the upswing, bringing much needed help to the
branches. We continue to have some growing pains around dress code, but all in all, these issues will sort out.
Stewards Conference
Just a reminder that the Stewards Conference will take place on April 27th in Quincy.
SHOUT OUT!
Thanks and praise to Sandy Price, (DDS/MRC) for her organization of a great Unit One lunch time meeting.
As always, it’s an honor to represent you.
In unity,
John G. Mann, President
Unit One
Members of MassDOT Unit A ratified their contract by an overwhelming 96 percent. Ballots were counted Tuesday morning (Jan. 3) at NAGE headquarters. The contract provides members with the same salary increases and other language improvements that were negotiated for non-MADOT members of Unit 1.
The Memorandum of Understanding extends the existing collective bargaining agreement through June 30, 2014 and gives members of MADOT Unit A a 6% pay raise over fiscal years 2013 and 2014. The 6% raise is in addition to the 3% raise effective June 30, 2012.
The contract also provides a “swap” of two holidays abolished by the legislature (Bunker Hill and Evacuation Day) for two additional personal days for current employees.
The schedule of raises is as follows:
3% increase effective June 30, 2012
1.5% increase effective first pay period July 2012
1.5% increase effective first pay period January 2013
1.5% increase effective first pay period July 2013
1.5% increase effective first pay period January 2014
The full MOU will be posted on this page as soon as it's available.
