NAGE Signs NAVSEA Partnership Agreement at Inaugural Meeting

April 21, 2010

National President David J. Holway this week joined other labor leaders in signing a partnership agreement establishing a Labor-Management Council of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). The signing took place in Washington, D.C. at the inaugural meeting of the Council, which was also attended by NAGE Federal Director Gina Lightfoot Walker, Attorney Sarah Susczcyk, and National Reps. Susanne Pooler and Dale Dandrea.

NAVSEA, a Navy command, engineers, builds, buys and maintains ships, submarines and combat systems that meet the Fleet’s current and future operational requirements. It is the largest of the Navy's five system commands, and with a fiscal year 2008 budget of $24.8 billion, NAVSEA accounts for nearly one quarter of the Navy’s entire budget.

The NAVSEA Partnership Council is expected to meet on a periodic basis to confer on matters that affect working conditions at NAVSEA. The aim of the Council is to "champion changes and workplace improvements to enhance NAVSEA's ability to efficiently and effectively sustain the current fleet, build an affordable future fleet, and enable our workforce."
